The fourth commandment from God, “Our Father,” obliges the faithful to show respect for their parents—as children and adults. Children must obey their parents, and adults must respect and see to the care of their parents, when they become old and frail.
“Honor your father and mother, that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” Ephesians 6:2-3
With this commandment comes the promise that with honor all can be well with you and you can have a long life on earth. To all the fathers and father figures, I honor you and wish you a Happy Father’s Day.
Our lives are richer because of your love, wisdom, compassion, and support. The importance of the father’s role in a child’s life is undeniable. A father establishes the foundation for his family and he directs the flow of everyday life. His actions enhance the lives of his spouse, children, and grandchildren. A father is also a positive role model for his community. He keeps our Father in heaven at the forefront of his life as he gleans information to make decisions and guide his family.
Fathers many times are misunderstood and do not get the recognition that they deserve for their many contributions. Fathers are trailblazers who leave a legacy from generation to generation. We salute you today and every day for making this world a better place. Always remember that you were created to be loved by God and His love is perfect–it is unconditional.
Thought For Today: Honor your Heavenly Father and earthly Father today with acts of love and kindness.
